Annual Events

SCDC supports the community by providing enriching, fun and informative events designed with the whole family in mind. Some of our annual events include:

International Night, held each April as part of our annual celebration of Michigan’s Month of the Young Child. This event provides an opportunity for center families and staff to share their cultures, traditions, and beliefs in an effort to educate and celebrate the diversity within our community.

Parent Education Seminars are held two to three times a year. These seminars provide information for families regarding their child’s development, and parenting tips and ideas. These are free and open to the public as well.

Family Make and Take Events, these are held about every other month and serve as a way for our staff to share ideas with the families of SCDC. Each event will focus on an activity for parents to complete with their child prior to leaving the center at the end of the day. The activity is planned by the teaching staff to meet learning objectives and is developmentally appropriate for all ages

Fall Celebration, taking place in October, this is a way to celebrate the fall season and give families a chance to meet and socialize with one another. Activities during the celebration are planned by the SCDC teaching staff and are “fall themed” to include leaf painting, pumpkin exploration, and apple printing.
